Join us for our March Build-A-Bug Workshop!
We will be hosting at our studio located in the Grounded Print and Paper Shop in Erie PA.
We will have supplies set up to make and take your very own insect specimen shadow box in this hands on workshop. Workshop cost is $10 which covers reserving your time slot and crafting materials. (Shadow boxes and insects are sold separately.)
Time slots are limited so message us today to reserve your spot. We can accommodate groups of up to 6 - if you have a larger party feel free to message us for accommodations.
Prices will vary based on specimen chosen and frame size. We have insects available anywhere from $5-$100.
Choose an insect specimen (or several!) The Raven's Nest has a huge selection of ethically sourced Butterflies, Moths, Beetles, Spiders and many more available to choose from.
Pick out the appropriate sized shadow box for your project. We have plenty of sizes and depths available in the studio. as small as 3" x 4" up to 8" x 10" (Larger sizes are available if needed but must be pre-ordered.)
Decide on a background - whether you use the paper options available in our studio, bring fabric or artwork from home, or purchase from the paper shop in the main building (where you can choose from a wide variety of locally made recycled papers) the sky is the limit! Even that old band tee that doesn't fit any longer could work.
Choose if you'd like any add-ons such as inner frames or trinkets/accessories or skulls/bones from our studio. Feel free to bring your own if you have a special item you’d like to include! We have had attendees bring their own dried flowers from their wedding, a piece of a deceased relative's old flannel, and even animal bones found on a hike.
All crafting supplies needed (scissors, glue, tweezers, etc.) will be provided.
