About the BSA:
The Buffalo Society of Artists (BSA) stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of creativity and community, having been a cornerstone of the art world in Buffalo and Western New York for over 130 years. The organization boasts a rich heritage, with its inception dating back to 1891. Throughout the ages, the BSA has been home to a plethora of talented individuals who not only shaped the local art scene but also made significant contributions to the wider arts sphere.
As we continue to journey through 2024, the BSA proudly stands as a recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization, reflecting the dynamic nature of contemporary art, technology, and community engagement. With an unwavering commitment to diversification, we warmly invite individuals from all walks of life to contribute their unique perspectives and vigor to our historic society, ensuring that the BSA remains a beacon of artistic innovation.
True to our mission "Building on a legacy since 1891, we embrace visual exploration as critical to the voice of our time," we are conscientious that our strategic planning echoes the essence of our mission, leading us forward with purpose and vision. It is from this foundation of historical and cultural richness that our initiatives, such as the Video Archive Project (VAP), draw their significance, capturing the essence and narratives of our artist members along with their creative odysseys.
The Summer Exhibition will be juried by Cynthia Clabough.
