What role do humans play in shaping the world? This exhibition explores the question through the intersections of design and art — portraying humanity as a being drifting in currents, striving for change, accepting fate, living in cycles, and ultimately taking responsibility.Between 21 and 26 April, Budapest Select - Patterns of Being, curated by Hanna Imre, presents the reflections of 26 Hungarian creators on the Milan Design Week 2026 theme ’Be the Project’. The 65 exhibited pieces go beyond aesthetic value, offering intellectual depth and thoughtful perspectives. The exhibition unfolds across five thematic sections – Current, Aspiration, Fate, Circularity and Responsibility –, responding sensitively to cultural, social, ecological, and material‑ and form‑related challenges.
Designed by VÜ Architects, the installation is built primarily from common reed, an archetypal material in Hungarian culture. The concept places the human being at the center of an atmospheric exhibition environment, where space, light, sound, and material create a “breathing framework” for experience.
Organized by Creative Hungary, the Budapest Select exhibition is part of the official program of 5VIE Design Week.
