Az 1998-ban megalakult Budapest Jazz Orchestra Magyarország első professzionális, folyamatosan működő big bandje. A Budapest Jazz Orchestra produkcióiban – a hagyományos big band műfajából kiindulva – végigkísérte a jazz fejlődését a ’20- as évektő a kortárs jazz-ig. A Budapest Jazz Orchestra az október 26-i koncertjén Buddy Rich darabjaiból válogat Kármán Sándor tiszteletére, aki ebben az évben lenne 75 éves.
Vendég szólistánk Borlai Gergő!
A Ceglédi Dobmúzeum, Kármán Sándor magángyűjteménye, mely állandó kiállítása ízelítőt ad a könnyűzene, a jazz ütőhangszereinek 20. századi történetéből. Az ő nevéhez fűződik a Nemzetközi Dobos- és Ütős Gála is, ami 1993 óta szinte minden évben megrendezésre került hazai dobosok, ütősök valamint nemzetközi világsztárok, pl.: Peter Erskine, Daniel Glass közreműködésével. Borlai Gergő a hazai és nemzetközi zenei élet meghatározó alakja. 2009-ben költözött Barcelonába, 2015 óta a Los Angeles- i karrierjét építi. Itthon a fő zenekara Tátrai Tiborral a Godfater, de mellett több jelentős produkcióban, együttesben közreműködik. Nemzetközi zenei partnerei többek között Scott Kinsey, Gary Willis, Frank Gambale és Tony MacAlpine.

BJO believes in the importance of making the music available to the jazz-loving audience, to show them how it has changed and evolved in the past decades, and to introduce them to the various performers who are considered as milestones in this style of music.
At their concert on October 26, the Budapest Jazz Orchestra will perform a selection of Buddy Rich compositions in honor of Sándor Kármán, who would have turned 75 this year.
Our guest soloist is Gergő Borlai!
The Cegléd Drum Museum, based on Sándor Kármán’s private collection, offers a permanent exhibition showcasing the 20th-century history of percussion instruments used in popular music and jazz. His name is also linked to the International Drummer and Percussion Gala, held almost every year since 1993, featuring top Hungarian drummers and international stars such as Peter Erskine and Daniel Glass. Gergő Borlai is one of the most prominent figures in both the Hungarian and international music scenes. He moved to Barcelona in 2009 and has been building his career in Los Angeles since 2015. In Hungary, his main band is Godfater, led by Tibor Tátrai, while he also collaborates with several major projects and ensembles. His international musical partners include Scott Kinsey, Gary Willis, Frank Gambale, and Tony MacAlpine.
