About this Event
Join us for the Buckthorn Bonfire, a social stewardship sanctuary dedicated to the removal of invasive species to restore Rouge Park's historic trails. This hands-on volunteer event combines nature conservation with community connection, featuring music, snacks, and a celebratory bonfire to commemorate our collective efforts.
Event Highlights:
- Invasive Species Removal: Help us tackle invasive plants like buckthorn, honeysuckle, garlic mustard, oriental bittersweet, multi-flora rose, and porcelain berry.
- Nature Walks: Enjoy breaks to hike while learning about plant, flower, and tree identification from our knowledgeable guides.
- Community Connection: Meet fellow volunteers and share in the rewarding experience of enhancing Rouge Park’s natural beauty.
What to Bring:
- Clothing: We recommend wearing long sleeves, long pants, and boots for your safety and comfort.
- Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the day!
- Bug Protection: May through September can feature excessive mosquitoes. We’ll have bug spray and bug nets available.
