About this Event
Deaf art enthusiast Trudi Collier returns to The Hunterian to present a new British Sign Language tour of our most recent exhibition: Views of Glasgow: A Window into Communities.
Participants should note that there is no simultaneous translation to English.
This tour is delivered by Trudi Collier - Deaf BSL Art Guide, and is open to all confident BSL users.
About the Exhibition
Cities are not just streets and buildings — they are shaped by the people who live in them. Communities grow through care, connection and shared spaces. They are also tested by division, inequality and change.
Views of Glasgow combines paintings of Glasgow from The Hunterian collection with artworks, objects and archival material selected by members from the Woodlands community. The resulting dialogue explores how communities are formed, threatened and renewed.
From everyday encounters to expansive changes to the cityscape, the exhibition considers who owns space; the legacies of empire; shifting identities across Glasgow’s east and west; industry, pollution and the environment; and the importance of community spaces.
Views of Glasgow invites you to consider: What does community mean to you today — and in the future?
