About this Event

Conference Information

We welcome all information security professionals, students, and enthusiasts to the eighth annual BSidesAugusta! A giant thanks to Augusta University, especially the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, for making the Harrison Educations Commons Building on R.A. Dent Blvd available to us for the sixth year in a row.

We missed y'all in 2020, but are really looking forward to seeing you in 2021! However, the same thing that was on our collective minds in 2020 is still a consideration this year. To that end, we are releasing a **limited number of tickets** to BSidesAugusta 2021. We have made a waiting list available and may release more tickets in subsequent rounds. If general admission tickets show up as sold out, please add your name to the waiting list. You can also purchase a training class ticket, which includes admission to the conference.

We brought back circuit board badges in 2021 while supplies last. This year's lighted badge will be in the shape of a BSidesAugusta peach to which attendees can attach a lighted leaf either at a conference workshop session or later on their own. Those badge holders that want to participate in the workshop may sign up for a time slot at the Cyber City Circuits table on the day of the conference. See the schedule for more details.

The conference will host three tracks of mostly technical talks. This year's CTF sponsor is BreachQuest! Participants will be presented with a multi-faceted breach scenario where they have to assist an external client with a myriad of events that have been transpiring on their network. The CTF will be held in the room where we've held Track 4 in the past, next to Einstein Bros.

We are pleased to welcome Brigadier General Ryan Janovic as our keynote speaker this year! BG Janovic is the Deputy Commander of the Joint Force Headquarters – Cyber (JFHQ-C), which provides cyberspace support to U.S. Central Command, U.S. Africa Command, and U.S. Northern Command.

Of course, there will be sponsor tables, giveaways in the talks, a free tricky tray raffle, a free t-shirt and Chick-Fil-A lunch while supplies last, and more.

Follow us on Twitter or Instagram for updates, or watch the schedule.

FAQs

Where will the training and conference be held?

Training classes (9/27-9/30) will be held at the Georgia Cyber Center. The BSidesAugusta conference (10/2) will be held at Augusta University's Harrison Educations Commons Building on R.A. Dent Blvd.

Will it cost me to bring my child or a guest to the conference?

Yes. As great as the venues are, they have a finite amount of space for attendees. Every attendee must have a ticket. Please don't put our volunteers in the awkward position of not admitting your un-ticketed child or other guest.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the training and/or conference?

Yes, please bring your ticket as it's your admission to the event and you will need it at check-in. You also can use the Eventbrite app.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Each attendee needs to have their own ticket in their own name.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the training venue?

The training venue is the Georgia Cyber Center, which is less than two city blocks from the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center and about five blocks from the Hyatt House Augusta / Downtown. If you are not staying at one of those hotels, the most convenient way to get to the training venue is by car. There is a parking deck adjacent to the Georgia Cyber Center. Your training registration includes validated parking in that deck.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the conference venue?

Transport - BSidesAugusta is held at the Harrison Education Commons Building, about 2 miles from the preferred hotels and training venue. The most convenient way to get to the conference venue is by car. Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are available for a fare.

Parking - If you choose to drive to the venue, note that parking is first come, first served. You may park in ANY open-gated lot, even in spots marked “Reserved” by the University. The only exceptions are disabled, dormitory, and public safety parking, which still require a proper permit to be displayed. Please use the Goss Lane Parking Deck, the Dent Blvd Deck, the Cancer Center Deck on Laney Walker Blvd., and other parking as published on the parking map here: https://bsidesaugusta.org/parking

Last update: September 24, 2021. Lot 5 is now free (on the day of the conference only)! This should be the final parking update before the event.

If I register for a class 9/27-30, do I need to buy a separate ticket to BSidesAugusta?

No! Registration for all classes listed above includes entry into BSidesAugusta and Security Onion Conference, as well as validated parking in the Georgia Cyber Center parking deck on your training day(s). It also includes coffee and water service on your training day(s).

What can I bring to the training?

See the individual class descriptions for pre-requisites and items you need to bring to training.

What can I bring to the conference?

Bring a laptop if you plan to participate in the CTF. For more specifics on the laptop, check out the CTF website before the conference.

What is the refund policy?

Sorry, there are no refunds for the conference, except if the conference is canceled. If you buy a training ticket, you may request a refund until 9/20/2021. Requested refunds for training will be no more than the cost of the ticket minus Eventbrite fees (currently 6% + $1.59). If we refund you for training at your request, you will lose your BSidesAugusta and Security Onion Con tickets as well, except if your training class is canceled. See the "Training Cancellation" section above for more details. Contact us using "Contact the Organizer" to request a training ticket refund.

I registered for a General Admission ticket but now I want to attend one of the training classes (which all come with free admission). Can I be refunded for my ticket?

Yes. Contact us at [email protected].

Will there be a virtual option for the conference?

We plan to run the conference exclusively in person. We plan to publish talk videos after the conference.

What COVID-19 protocols will be in place for the conference and the training?

Please see: https://bsidesaugusta.org/health
