Cornetist/composer Bryan McCune, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, has performed over the years in groups based in Lincoln and Omaha NE, Washington-Baltimore area, New York City and the North Carolina Triangle area. He has also scored and performed live for a number of modern dance works performed at Washington DC’s Dance Place and Kennedy Center, and venues in Maryland, Virginia, Raleigh and Durham. McCune became intrigued with electronically-effected brass years ago, and incorporates an ever evolving effects rig as part of his sonic signature, never completely abandoning the natural sound of the cornet (well, almost never). He is at home playing hotel lounge jazz to no-holds-barred-avant-garde, and everything in between. His compositions and recordings draw from a wide stylistic palette, including blues, rock, folk, western, eastern, and beyond. Bryan’s primary group FLOY DOY can frequently be heard around the Raleigh-Durham area, and he performs with a variety of other groups. Recent album releases include Project Omaha’s “It’s Been a Long Time” with Bill Wimmer and featuring jazz legends Victor Lewis and George Cables, and “Convergent Divergence” featuring guitarist Mike Baggetta. Both are available for streaming and download at Bandcamp.com
