This month's installment celebrates OUR history. We present - Brunch•ish: Freedom Summer, celebrating Juneteenth. So what exactly is Juneteenth? Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. OUR independence day. We're kicking things off at Varsity Tavern in Tempe on June 19th at 11 am. Music will be by Trill J, Tiggz, Rich Cole, and Phife and we'll have a very special appearance by The Million Dollar DJ Dibia$e, Big Krit's official DJ. The menu has some crowd favorites including Southern fried chicken, red velvet waffles, and spiked cereal. You know what do to: go ahead and purchase your tickets as we celebrate what we built.
