What is a Brunch and Beat Workshop?

Professional makeup artist Mijon Williams, founder of Luminous Faces, brings an experience like no other to Los Angeles. She combines her love for makeup and cooking to bring you the Brunch and Beat experience. Everybody deserves to look and feel beautiful, and who doesn't love a good champagne brunch!? We are fusing together shrimp and grits, a little booze, and a lot of fun in this in depth, hands on makeup class. First we beat, then we brunch!

Why Should I Take This Class?

I am happy you asked this question! Aside from the fact that we all love brunch and a good mimosa, as women we all have a desire to look our best, starting with the first thing people notice: our faces! I have come across many women (particulary women of color) who have tons of makeup and are unsure how to apply it, and over time that product ends up going in the garbage. My goal is to teach you how to use what you already have and possibly add a few necessary additions. I know that many women flock to Youtube to learn how to apply their makeup, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, I have heard many complaints from clients, friends and family, that many videos they come across are not tailored to them, just as what may work for one makeup guru may not work for their 500,000 subscribers. Lots of Youtubers have sponsorships and have monetized their channels which means that they are paid to post. Yup! That concealer that they swear by, the brand pays them for promotion. So do we ever know if Youtubers, bloggers, and IG gurus are being 100% honest with us, or if they're filling their pockets? While we may never know, one thing I do know is that it is important for women of color to have a place where they have many of their burning questions answered. That is where I come in and I am happy to be at your disposal!

Who is This Workshop For?

This workshop is for you! All beginners, novice MUA's, makeup hoarders, and brunch enthusiasts are welcomed! My suggestion is to come with a group of your girlfriends! Each table will fit 6 people to a table. If you are planning to come with a group or a friend or two, carpooling is encouraged so that everyone can arrive at the same time. If that is not possible, simply mention that you want to be seated with friends at the door and we will do our best to accomodate you. All attendees must be 21+. Just as a note, everyone will be doing makeup on themselves.

How Will The Workshop Flow?

We will begin by checking everyone in. A beautiful spread of charcuterie, a glass of champagne and beverages will be provided upon entry. From there we will jump right in to the workshop, which will begin no later than 11:30am! For the next 2-2.5 hours we will go over all of the subjects above. After we are done with the makeup portion, we will move into the brunch hour! We will be toasting and food will be served immediately after, buffet style by servers.
