The search for love, companionship, and sometimes just a rollicking good time, has been part of the story of opera since its creation, and this year’s UTRGV Opera Theater production is no exception! Come join us at Joe’s Bar for an evening of Speed Dating Tonight! and watch as flames kindle, flames fizzle, and ex-lovers battle all while the drinks are poured and our daters strive to make a connection!This innovative comic opera by Michael Ching was premiered in 2013 at the Janiec Opera of the Brevard Music Center. The composer describes it as a “new numbers opera” – a highly adaptable format with diverse choices for diverse casts. UTRGV Opera Theater is thrilled to present this joint project between the Brownsville and Edinburg Opera Ensembles, and we hope you will be able to join us for one of these exciting performances!
