From psyched-out kraut punk to free-jazz wig outs to funk-flavoured downtempo jams, Brown Spirits endeavour to smash every show as if it was their last. Maintaining a strict DIY-recording ethic, the last few years have seen the band pump out a swag of global album releases, the most recent LP being on UK's esteemed Soul Jazz Records thus landing the trio as the first ever act from down under to sign with the label!Feeling very grateful for the immense local support from RRR & PBS radio (feature album!) and a bunch of flattering accolades from the northern hemisphere (thanks MOJO, UNCUT and Rough Trade UK!), the prospect of Brown Spirits sharing stages with some of their fave offshore musical inspiration such as Japanese psych & krautrock legends Kikagaku Moyo and Minami Deutsch plus American psych-rockers Frankie & the Witch Fingers and Yawning Man, has all recently become an unexpected reality ..
No less of a joy has been getting to playing with Naarm-based music heroes and friends including Magic Dirt, Rocket Science, Seven Ups, Buried Feather, Black Heart Death Cult, Seedy Jeezus, Paul Kidney Experience and many more. In short, the band has had some bloody fun nights over the last few years ..
So June 22, Brown Spirits are raising their glasses to 5 years as a live act and their most recent album release 'Solitary Transmissions' in true celebratory style. In addition, new t-shirts and some out of print Soul Jazz Brown Spirits 45s, plus some 'warehouse find' copies of various Brown Spirits LPs will all be available on the night.

Star/Time are a Naarm-based New Marxist urban sound collective, featuring members of the Dirtbombs, Rocket Science and Paul Kidney Experience. Incredible outfit playing no wave and improvised psychedelic jazz, so fans of Miles Davis 'On the Corner' please take note!

Comets are a totally killer psych-jam outfit featuring members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Boomgates to name a few. High energy live shows and they also recently scored Feature Album on PBS Radio! It's a cracker!
