About this Event

📚 Storytime & Free Book Giveaway at F&M Coffee Shop ☕

In partnership with Brooklyn Book Bodega

📅 Date & Time: Saturday, October 7th · 10:30–11:30 AM

📍 Location: F&M Coffee Shop · 623 Church Avenue · Brooklyn, NY 11218

Join us for a special storytime reading with author Solena Aguilar, featuring her bilingual children’s book:

“What Do You Need / ¿Qué Necesitas?”

Lorena the tomato wakes up in Abrazos Community Garden, where she discovers the joy of diversity, care, and giving. With her new friend Marisol the sunflower, Lorena learns the beauty of a garden where everyone asks for what they need and gives what they can. 🌱✨

This uplifting bilingual story introduces children to ideas of mutual aid, equity, and community care in a way that’s fun, engaging, and heartwarming.

🎁 Free Diverse Children’s Books: Thanks to our partnership with Brooklyn Book Bodega, every child will get to take home a free book!

☕ Coffee & Baked Goods: Available for attendees on a first come, first serve basis.

❤️ Fundraiser for October Hot Breakfasts

Alongside storytime, we’re raising funds for low-income families in our neighborhood to enjoy a hot breakfast at F&M Coffee Shop during the chilly fall mornings.

Backpacks and school supplies are often donated during this season, but food insecurity remains a daily challenge. A warm meal in a local café can make all the difference for families on the go.

Ask for what you need, give what you can — just like in Lorena’s story.

✨ Come grab a coffee, meet your neighbors, let your kids pick a book, and welcome F&M Coffee Shop to the community!
