Broomfield Summer Concerts: Brendan James with Sturtz

The Arts and History division of the Library, Arts, History and CSU Extension Department is thrilled to present a Summer Concert Series filled with engaging and entertaining music for the whole family.

All concerts are free to attend and open to all ages.

Brendan James is an American Singer-Songwriter in the pop/folk genre, akin to David Gray, Jason Mraz, and Elton John. Signed to Capitol Records at age 25, Universal Records at 28, James has reached the #1 spot on ITunes multiple times, accrued more than one million fans in 65 countries on Spotify, and has been played on multiple formats of American and European radio. He has collaborated or toured with the likes of John Mayer, John Legend, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Keb Mo, and Andy Grammar, and his songs have been placed in over 15 major television shows and films worldwide.

NPR’s All Songs Considered described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times." The quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello, harmonies], Will Kuepper [bass, piano, harmonies], and Jim Herlihy [banjo, electric guitar, harmonies] - is serene and folksy, with melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz just released their second studio album, Hyacinth, in September 2024, and they're excited to tour on this album for the next year. When they’re not playing music, you’ll probably find them milling flour, farming, laying in a creek, or eating native foliage.
