Led by Colleen Plank.Discover wool as a material for modern adornment in this enjoyable hands-on experience. Using New Zealand wool, you will create a selection of wearable pieces including brooches and beads, shaped through simple forming and moulding techniques.
This workshop encourages relaxed experimentation with texture, form, and colour. Work with natural tones or explore vibrant colour combinations using a curated kit of materials, including a gorgeous selection of hand-dyed merino fibre and natural fabrics.
Open to beginners and experienced makers alike, the workshop offers a welcoming, inclusive space to try contemporary textile techniques. All materials are provided, and you’ll be taking home finished pieces ready to wear.
Colleen Plank is a contemporary textile artist and tutor based in Whakatu Nelson with many years teaching adults from community classes to tertiary level.
In 2016 Colleen founded NZ Textile Experiences, where she continues to offer her workshops. Colleen exhibits her textile work nationally and internationally. Over the past few years her textile work has been shown in Australia, USA, Hong Kong, UK, Mexico, Japan and Ireland with several pieces being purchased for private collections.
What drives Colleen's enthusiasm for tutoring is the opportunity to share her extensive knowledge of felting, dyeing and textile manipulation techniques with anyone wishing to try out something new, and by inspiring and mentoring the more experienced students ready to extend their skills.
