Bromeliads for Beginners

Instructors: John Boardman and Pam Marion
Students will learn how to identify each common group of Bromeliads, how to separate them, and the best soil and pine bark mixture for planting in pots. The class will also cover techniques for mounting to wood, planting in the ground, and for keeping newly planted Bromeliads upright. The Instructors will demonstrate soil mixture, pup separation and discuss proper pest control and care.
Bromeliads are adaptive to most landscape conditions in Florida. They reflect the history of our community by thriving over time and require very little maintenance.
Attendees will leave with the ability to navigate any Plant Sale with confidence!
Students will receive their own potted Neoregelia 'Maria' from the stunning Leu Gardens tree.
John and Pam will also provide a Market for exotic varieties and various species. Cash Only
John Boardman is a prominent, award-winning bromeliad enthusiast, collector, and Bromeliad Society International Master Judge, known for his expertise in Neoregelias and variegated varieties, often presenting at society meetings and winning major awards at 2 World Conference in the last 4 years. Showcasing his success both as a competitor and an official evaluator in the Bromeliad community. He been an active member of the Bromeliad Society of Central Florida since 1990, serving as President and Vice President and is now a life member.
Pam Marion, a Florida native, has been growing plants, both inside and outside, for over 30 years. Her collection includes bromeliads, orchids, heliconia’s, a butterfly garden and many other tropicals.
Pam is a member of the Seminole Bromeliad and Tropical Plant Society and is a life member in both the Bromeliad Society of Central Florida and the Central Florida Orchid Society. She has held many offices in both societies.
Participants must withdraw from classes at least 5 days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit. If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.
Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom. Childcare services are not provided
