It's April Fools, but we're no mooks, the tides rise against a buttress of books
so we're safe for now, dig?
from police actions, ICE and pigs.
It's been [52] days since a Nazi rally
but we're at the stage in this coup where we have to tally.
So what's up with dreams and beauty?
did they suck into your throat and cocoon,
leaving only the morning song of a lake mist loon
to cry the despair that you're feeling inside?
Get real, Camille, crack it open wide
and let the jazz hit the words flowing from your lips
the guitar frets excited by your fingertips;
bass slides, walking up and down the beat -
playing the drums like a soccer game kleat
digging into the leveled dirt field for that traction
you need when you utter something worth a reaction.
We're gonna read and drip phrase to the beat of a trio
playing smooth against words while you're getting all emo.
Dan Jaychim is going to sing, honey,
dripping improvised thoughts and phrases on the money
but when he's done, daddy-o, killing it
those hep cats are gonna keep jazzin' it
so everybody can feel beautiful and sly
it's gonna be a gas, our galaxy's gonna fly.
Dig it, go ape, make this cube a sphere
Get groovy with the mix, and then come over here
and stop copping a bit, make sincerity "it,"
and maybe this couple of hours
is relieve from this apple that
constantly sours.
