You find yourself in a vast, dimly lit room that seems to stretch infinitely in all directions. You feel weightless like a ghost, as gentle currents of unfamiliar energy guide your movement. As you float through this dreamlike space, you notice a soft gleam of light, under which lies an object, seemingly a microphone. Without thinking, you approach it and hold it in your hand. The mic is broken. Things are not what they seem. You sense a weight of unspoken words and suppressed creativity attached to its shattered form. Then there’s the alarm and you wake up, feeling like you have unresolved business in the mysterious dream space. Let us take you back.

Broken mic is a showcase of music to soundtrack your dream. Once a month, in the Dream Machine, we will present live acts and DJs playing ambient, electronica and experimental electronic music, accompanied with immersive visuals in the dream room. Music, art, friendly and relaxed atmosphere - this is the one you don’t want to wake up from. 5£ advance and OTD, BYOB (5£ corkage).

November's Broken Mic is going to be a special one, as we're bringing you two fantastic live performances. Leledaki will explore intersections between traditional and contemporary by combining classical cello and electronic sounds, followed by Bestiary, who will take you on an audiovisual journey seeping with improvisation and experimentation. All the while surrounded by dreamlike live visuals from Zlint.

Leledaki (Live)

Leledaki - a Greek word play on “louloudaki,” meaning small flower - crafts ethno electronic music rooted in her birthplace, Athens, Greece, now blooming in the landscape of Glasgow. With themes focused around the changing of seasons and their natural ebbs and flows, inspired by the uncharming beauty of urban settings and folklore, Leledaki’s music can be found blossoming in the cracks of the intersections of traditional music, tribal percussions, classical cello, balkan polyphonics and 808 subs, creating a rich auditory experience that reflects her diverse influences and journey.

Bestiary (Live)

Bestiary is a multimedia performance collective. Using live improvisation, Bestiary explores notions of chance and coexistence to look at broad themes including zoology, ecology, alchemy, and absurdism. No performance is ever the same and no performance is complete without YOU.

Zlint is a pioneering visual jockey specialising in analogue media, particularly tape and VHS technology. Zlint creatively harnesses the unique textures and imperfections of vintage formats to craft immersive experiences. Their performances feature manipulated video tapes and retro video games, generating a nostalgic atmosphere that captivates audiences. Based in Edinburgh, Zlint collaborates with musicians and artists, exploring themes of memory and retro aesthetics while pushing the boundaries of contemporary visual art. Through their work, Zlint revives the charm of analogue while inviting reflection on the passage of time in a digital age.
