Well-Spring to welcome Tony-winner Rachel Bay Jonesas season-opening act for Broadway to Greensboro series!
We are excited to welcome you to The Virginia Somerville Sutton at Well-Spring next month for our first Broadway to Greensboro concert of our 2022-23 season.
Unfortunately, however, on Monday we received word that our scheduled season-opening performer, Stephanie J. Block, has committed to an exciting new professional opportunity that conflicts with her performance date at Well-Spring (we’ll let her share that good news when she’s ready). Stephanie expressed her deep disappointment to us as well as her intention to reschedule and perform at Well-Spring as soon as possible – we’ll keep you updated on the progress of that. Fingers crossed! Meanwhile, congratulations to Stephanie on her new opportunity!
That said, we’ve rebounded very nicely and will offer a concert with an equally talented and dynamic performer! Our team got to work immediately, and we are happy to announce that our concert will go on as scheduled with a new guest artist – Broadway and Tony Award-winning performer Rachel Bay Jones. Rachel played the mother in Dear Evan Hansen, a role for which she was recognized in 2017 with the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical!
Rachel’s show will take place at the same time that Stephanie’s was planned – Saturday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. Rachel has been extremely gracious to put this engagement together on short notice, and we look forward to the memorable experience we have planned for you.
Rachel’s stage roles also include Pippin, Grand Hotel, Fiddler on the Roof, Hair and more. Her TV and film credits include Critical Thinking, Modern Family, Law & Order: SVU, Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor and United States of Al, among others. She is a Grammy and Emmy winner, too!
We are excited to bring her to the Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre thanks to an endowment established by John and Sue Irvin.
Tickets go on sale Friday, August 19, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.
