SACRAMENTO: AMERICA’S MOST DIVERSE CITY

It is all happening in ‘America’s most diverse city’ (Harvard University 2002). Sacramento is a hotbed of contemporary culture.

It has also been called the most ‘hipster city’ in California. This capital state of California is home to the Broadway strip where all these wonderful elements will come together to create an unforgettable International Festival of music, art, food and dance!

Broadway: A Rich Tapestry of Culture Waiting To Be Discovered!

The Broadway International Festival is all about celebrating the myriad of cultures we have. Broadway is a place with a rich diversity of culture influenced by immgriation from many different countries. The USA was built on immigration and this is the very essence that binds us as Americans. In coming together for our International festival, we seek to celebrate that wondrous diversity.

Broadway Businesses and Industry

The Greater Broadway District is a mixture of restaurants, retail and commercial businesses. It is also home to a fantastic collection of ethnic restaurants and has the largest farmer’s market in Sacramento! Broadway is a hive of activity with a beautiful history as well as thriving local industry. The Broadway International Festival is all about supporting local businesses, local artists and bringing all people together as one.

WHAT IS BROADWAY,

SACRAMENTO FAMOUS FOR?

If you don’t know Broadway, it is famous for a number of things:

The Tower Theater's neon tower is an iconic symbol of the place and it stands tall and proud. Opened in 1938, it has been a movie house and a theatre over the years. It is a real iconic landmark for California.

The World Famous Tower Records is a record chain which was known the world over. It started in 1960 and spread all over the world with shops in the UK, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan and many other countries. Nowadays, it is an online store.

The Broadway International Festival is the event that we want to make the area famous for. This is the beginning of something great!

Broadway Cruise is the place where classic cars and their owners cruise along with all the funky, cool soul of California and its beautiful people. This is where our festival is taking place.

Ethiopian Food Facts

Queen Shebas’ restaurant in Broadway has authentic Ethiopian food and drink. Let’s find out some facts about Ethiopian food and drink.

The Birthplace of Coffee

Did you know that coffee originated in Ethiopia?

The word coffee comes from the Ethiopian word ‘kaffa’.

When coffee is served at home in Ethiopia it is a ritual which lasts one hour and begins with the washing of the green beans!

Most Ethiopians won’t even consider buying pre-roasted coffee beans!

In Ethiopia coffee is served in small cups along with popcorn!
