Brixton Wearables
About this Event
Wear white and join us at the heart of Brixton, a site of resistance, ethnically diverse and rich layered histories. Everyone is welcome to explore Brixton’s links to Africa & the Americas by creating collage postcards and wearable models. Inspired by the market’s architecture and carnival craftsmanship, the workshop draws attention to micro-businesses, communal rituals and cultural expressions that embody belonging while revealing tensions of displacement and othering. During the activity, we will build a postcard atlas on the shopfront of Danclair’s Kitchen. Participants will be portrayed against this collective canvas adding another layer to the identity of this community.
