Course Sessions: 11am - 12:30pm
John Wischmeyer returns to LHS for a new four-part course exploring the remarkable creativity and cultural transformation of the 1960s through cinema.
COURSE FORMAT
Each Friday includes a film lecture and discussion: 11:00am - 12:30pm
Optional matinee screening of the film discussed in the session: 1:30pm
Participants attending the morning course receive a discounted ticket for this afternoon screening should they wish to attend.
FILMS & TOPICS INCLUDE
Friday 5th June ; ‘A Taste of Honey’ (Tony Richardson, 1961) - Landmark British New Wave film exploring working-class life in post-war Britain.
Friday 12th June ; ‘Sixties Women: Twiggy, Marianne Faithful, Julie Christie and Edna O'Brien’ - a mix of film extracts, including the Twiggy documentary, Catching Fire (on Anita Pallenberg), Blue Road, Hollywood UK and other highlights, making connections to the iconic work of David Bailey where relevant.
Friday 19th June ; ‘Alfie' & a 10-minute documentary on Michael Caine in the 60s - Michael Caine & others rise to fame and their defining role in shaping the style, attitude, and cultural landscape of 1960s Britain.
Friday 26th June ; ‘Blow-Up’ (Michelangelo Antonioni, 1966) - Iconic portrait of Swinging London, fashion, photography and ambiguity.

TICKET OPTIONS
Film Course : £12 per session, or £40 for the full four-week course.
Matinee Film Screenings : £10 per film, or £6 for those attending the morning course session.
Full Course + All Screenings Package : £60 total
Morning film course sessions and afternoon screenings can be booked separately.
Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits during session intervals.
