Now in its 11th year, the Brisbane Big Band Festival continues to excite all the big band fans from miles around.This year, twenty-one bands from “weekend warriors” to seasoned pros will gather together over five sessions. Each performance will feature four or five bands from 6pm - 10pm on 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th September plus a matinee at 12 noon on the Sunday. The quality of musicianship is outstanding and proves the significance of Brisbane's place in the jazz world.
Festival Director and BJC Vice-President, Alan Western looks back on the success of the festival as a significant contribution to the artistic life of Brisbane, which was honoured last year by the attendance of our patron, Her Excellency, the Governor of Queensland. There is a strong community aspect to this event which enables socialising and networking between all the musicians in attendance - something that they rarely experience.
Tickets are available online from BJC to attend the performances which will be held at the nearby spacious and comfortable QMC (BEMAC) 102 Main St, Kangaroo Point: a venue that has the capacity to cope with the large numbers of music-lovers and musicians eager to attend the festival.
Doors open 5:30 PM all days.
