Using NVC consciousness to bring self-empathy, connection, and heart-felt giving to deepen our conversations around all forms of racism.
About this Event

presented by Morris H. Ervin, Jr

  • Transform tough messages into opportunities for deeper and more meaningful dialogue
  • Understand racism and how to unpack it from the lens of NVC consciousness
  • Learn from and engage with the first African American CNVC Certified Trainer
  • Engage with music, movement, and stories to create spaces for healing and interdependence!

DESCRIPTION

How can one engage in these potent conversations while holding peace within oneself?

This course is intended to expand and deepen the conversation of systemic and interpersonal racism, while utilizing and integrating the consciousness of NVC— a process and language designed to create connection and natural giving from the heart.

You will explore how to incorporate observations, feelings, needs, and requests in a way that skillfully unpacks the naming of an unjust system from a connected, respected, and dignified place.

You can expect to:

  • Unpack interpersonal, internalized, and institutional racism from the lens of NVC consciousness
  • See and define racism as a system created to meet the needs of one group at the expense of another
  • Hear and share personal stories of racism, power, and privilege and their impacts
  • Translate “hard to hear" messages of racism, power, and privilege into deeper conversations that meet needs of connection, interdependence, mutual respect, and shared reality

Participants can look forward to demonstrations, breakout rooms, interactive discussions, and exercises for deeper integration!

More Information

This event occurs monthly on a Sunday to support Nonviolent communication (NVC) understanding and practice.

We welcome new participants at any level. It’s fun when a ‘newbie’ comes and we, ‘newbies’ not so long ago, suddenly see that we’ve learned something important we can pass on, at the same time deepening our understanding of new contexts. If you're already skilled in NVC, we would enjoy sharing support and companionship.

$$ info: The requested fee is $20-$40 per person. Please don't let the cost keep you from coming. Click here if money is keeping you from attending. Sustainability is important to us but contribution even more so, which we can't do unless you show up! For more information call Barbra at 410 499 1986 or email (deleting spaces): Qi of NVC @gmail.com
