About this Event
Puppeteer Edie Edmundson and artist-facilitator Ri Baroche invite you to a playful and creative workshop, Bring Your Bones to Life.
In this unique workshop, you will be guided to create and customise your very own skeleton marionette. Through hands-on crafting, you will explore the diversity of human bone structures, discovering that no skeleton is ever quite the same.
Once your puppet is complete, we will bring it to life using simple puppetry techniques, encouraging curiosity, play, and a deeper connection with our own bones. Each puppet becomes a unique reflection of the hidden complexities and personal stories embedded in our skeletons, serving as a gentle prompt to think about how our bodies carry both biological and social histories.
This workshop is part of the broader In Your Bones project led by Professor Claire Clarkin (School of Biological Sciences), Lesley Self (Art Care, Salisbury District Hosptial) and Claudia Murg (We Make Southampton), which aims to facilitate conversations around lived experiences, health inequities, and the barriers people face in accessing equitable skeletal health care.
Show Times: 11:00, 13:00, 14:30
Run Time: 75 minutes
Suitability: All ages
