More on our presenter:
In addition to her role as a Xerces’ Ambassador, Carol works in conservation, within the McHenry County Conservation Foundation. Additionally, she volunteers across a number of other environmental organizations throughout Northern Illinois and into Wisconsin. Her volunteer work has a heavy focus on native landscape consultations where she educates others on creating and providing a healthy habitat for our native pollinators, birds, other wildlife, clean water, and addressing opportunities where homeowners can help with climate change. She has personally been gardening with native plants and trees for over three decades, with an emphasis upon bringing life and movement into her personal landscapes. Inspiring others to appreciate the connections between native landscapes and pollinators is one area of focus in her volunteer conservation work.
Carol is a University of Wisconsin Master Naturalist and University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener. She is an active Conservation@Home Consultant with both the Geneva Lake Conservancy and the Land Conservancy of McHenry County – and is an active mentor in the ‘Natural Garden in Your Yard’ native plant program, with The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee (WPPC). She promotes monarch butterfly habitat and pollinator conservation within various groups, including the Illinois Monarch Project, The WPPC, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, and the City of Crystal Lake, where she sits on their Sustainability Committee.
