Brighton & Hove Kirtan Festival
About this Event
A joyful celebration of kirtan at the Brighton Kirtan Festival, hosted by local Bhakti Yoga practitioners and the UK Kirtan Festival Team. This special event features a group of talented young kirtaniyas from the Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple, visiting as part of their UK youth tour, bringing fresh energy, beautiful music, and a spirit of devotion to Brighton.
Kirtan is the heart of the Bhakti Yoga tradition. It is the practice of singing sacred mantras together, accompanied by instruments such as the harmonium, mrdanga drum, and hand cymbals. There is no performance and no audience, everyone is invited to take part, regardless of age, background, or musical experience.
The simple repetition of these ancient mantras creates an uplifting atmosphere that many people find calming, joyful, and deeply nourishing. Through singing together, participants often experience a sense of connection, inner peace, and shared happiness that transcends language and culture.
Whether you are completely new to kirtan or have been practising for years, the Brighton Kirtan Festival offers a warm and welcoming space to experience the transformative power of music, meditation, and community. Come and add your voice to an evening of joy, friendship, and heartfelt celebration. Plus Veg/Vegan feast at the end
