About this Event
The Bright Shadow Book Club is for people who don’t usually join book clubs; for folks who want to read accessible books and gather to reflect on what they reveal about being human.
This is a space for folks who may be curious about how we navigate cycles of light and dark, risk and rest, love and loss, especially as they show up in relationship with the natural world.
You’re welcome whether you’ve read the whole book, part of it, or simply want to listen. There’s no expectation to perform, share, or keep pace - just an openness to conversation and connection.
Participants are welcome to drop in and out of the series as needed. Each gathering stands on its own.
IMPORTANT: This is a recurring event that alternates between ONLINE and IN-PERSON sessions.
Please check the date you are registering for to confirm whether that session is online (Zoom) or in-person (location listed below).
What to Expect
- A relaxed, low-pressure conversation.
- A small, respectful group of outdoor-minded folks who value honesty and listening.
- Brief grounding at the start, followed by open discussion and reflection.
- Space to speak, listen, or pass at any time.
- No long-term commitment; attend one gathering or many.
- A tone that is human, reflective, and connective rather than academic or clinical.
*Trauma-Informed Content Note
This book club may include conversations about grief, loss, death, and the emotional impact of living, recreating, and finding meaning in wild or uncertain environments. Participation is always optional, and you are encouraged to care for yourself in whatever way feels right (by stepping away, listening quietly, or choosing not to share).
Facilitation is grounded in trauma-informed principles. We prioritize consent, choice, and respect for each person’s lived experience.
About Bright Shadow
Bright Shadow creates spaces for community, healing, and reconnection for those grieving losses to and of the natural world.
Our offerings integrate shared story, somatic practice, outdoor play, and ceremony. We welcome all parts of self – light and shadow – exploring connection through collective grief and expanding our capacity for love, purpose, and awe.
