LABOR AND BIRTH CLASS IN PERSON
This class will be offeredI in person at the Duncan Reid Conference Room, located on the second floor of the Hospital, near the K elevators. Instructions and materials for the class will be emailed to you the day before the class. It will have the same content, instructor, and group interaction as the virtual class; the only difference is that everyone will be in the hospital conference room. This class is limited to 12 couples, and will be cancelled if fewer than 3 couples register. If you have any questions, please email Sarah McNamara, [email protected]. Brigham and Women's Labor and Delivery classes are open to all Brigham and Women patients who are at least 28 weeks pregnant or more (at time of class), along with their partner or support person.
Labor and Birth Class
Cost: $160 *cost includes a support person
Classes time is 9:00am to 4:00pm. There will be a 30 minute lunch break.
Taught by childbirth educators, the class will cover labor, birth and postpartum; including the signs and stages of labor; when to come to the hospital; breathing and relaxation exercises; tips to promote comfort and coping during labor. You will also learn more about anesthesia and pain management options; cesarean birth, induction of labor, and postpartum. A virtual maternity tour will cover all logistics, including where to park and what to bring to the hospital. There is no in-person tour.
Please note:
- Wear comfortable clothing, such as yoga pants or leggings; we do some floor exercises.
- If you have a yoga mat and a pillow, those are helpful but not necessary.
- Our lunch break is 30 minutes.
