Brigantis is a mantra band fusing ancient songs of loving unity from many cultures , and new ones calling forth the old ways of this land, with fresh melodies, beats and harmonies. We facilitate space for people to sing together, weaving our diversity into a thriving, blissful unity for an unforgettable experience. This is an exciting opportunity, with limited tickets, so please do grab them whilst you can.
Our events are 2 hours long, and we're fortunate at the Yoga Cafe to have cushions, mats and blocks to help us be comfortable on the floor. There are a few chairs too. The three of us (Matt (drums), Viviane (vocals, bass, harmonium), Dave (vocals, guitar), endeavour to hold space that uplifts, heals and transforms and, crucially, does so with lightness and joy. Brigantis is inspired by the name of the ancient tribe of the northwest of Albion, and some reckon where the name 'Britannia' comes from. Briga is one of the names of the goddess that has been suppressed by a series of empires, and we hope that our little band is a thread across the tear in our collective memories. The cells of our bodies are from the land, and we are Her, singing our way home.
We will sing songs in English, Sanskrit, Yoruban, Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Ancient Sumerian and Gurmukhi. We would love to sing with you.
A bit about money:
This event is on a donation only basis. Please only give money that you feel comfortable to, and do so with a spirit of wanting the money to help serve others and help others enjoy the rich experience of letting go into love through song. We would, ideally, like all of our events to be donation only but there are quite a few overheads, with travel, time, equipment, bookings, room rentals etc. We are trialling this donation system in trust that what is necessary will be provided to carry on sharing this living art of divine joy and healing. Fingers crossed!
No experience necessary: all are welcome, of all faiths, races and persuasions. This is a place to celebrate unity, to dive deep into the mystical mood, and be rejuvenated by the power of our shared voice.
