BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) - Carlow Professional Counseling Program hosts a panel of BIPOC experts.
About this Event

Join us for an engaging in-person BIPOC panel event, hosted by the Master’s in Professional Counseling program at Carlow University. This discussion will focus on supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students in higher education through culturally responsive and sustainable counseling practices. Our expert panelists will explore the impact of recent legislation, barriers to accessing mental health support, and ways to ensure meaningful, lasting change within campus communities. Whether you’re a student, educator, or ally, this is your space to connect, learn, and make a difference together. Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of an inspiring community and engage in ways we can translate dialogue into action!

Session Objectives

  • Address how the professional counseling field (both future and current counselors) can advocate for BIPOC college students amongst the shrinking resources on college campuses due to national and local legislation and University liability.
  • Discuss the change in recent resources on college campuses, alongside discussing BIPOC youth and young adult mental health barriers, stigmas/stereotypes, equality, Medic*tion compliance, and testing services.
  • Discuss how to better support this population through this change and support the overall well-being of BIPOC college students.
