The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce is set to honor longtime Maître D, Brian Ellis, with the 468th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars in the category of Civic/Pioneer. The star will be unveiled at 100 S. Palm Canyon Dr. in Downtown Palm Springs on Wednesday, April 17th, at 10:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend the star dedication ceremony. At the age of 24, Ellis embarked on his illustrious career in Palm Springs at the newly opened Melvyn's, under the guidance of restaurateur Melvyn Haber. Since its opening in 1975, Ellis has played an integral role in shaping Melvyn's reputation as a symbol of classic service and historic Hollywood glamour.
Ellis' dedication extends beyond Melvyn's, forming enduring relationships with celebrities, politicians, and locals alike. His commitment to excellence has garnered him respect from valley vendors, restaurateurs, and musicians, establishing him as a pillar of the Palm Springs community.
From his appearances on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," to being featured in publications like the Los Angeles Times, to coordinating memorable events such as Frank and Barbara Sinatra wedding rehearsal, to handling five presidential visits, to serving countless celebrities, including Tony Bennett, Kris Jenner, and Jack Nicholson, Ellis' journey intertwines with Palm Springs' rich history.
Throughout his career, Ellis has not only perfected the craft of delivering exceptional service but has also served as a mentor to many. In recent years, he has continued to contribute to Palm Springs' hospitality scene, ensuring that every visitor experiences the magic of this desert oasis, by providing expertise and guidance to new ventures and restaurants undergoing changes.
