Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band
Tue, March 9, 7:30 PM
The Shedd Institute, Eugene, OR
"It’s a profoundly important band, and Blade is widely acknowledged as one of the top drummers in jazz. " — DownBeat
"Post-bop sophistication is gently sifted through layers of gospel, country, folk and soul, with the implicit aim of balancing intellect against emotion. And it works. " — The New York Times
Grammy-nominated drummer Brian Blade has spent nearly 30 years creating music rooted in deep listening and artistic dialogue. With The Fellowship Band, featuring acclaimed musicians Jon Cowherd on piano, Melvin Butler on tenor and soprano saxophone, Myron Walden on alto saxophone and bass clarinet, and Christopher Thomas on bass, this band has performed at the world's greatest jazz stages, from the Village Vanguard to Newport Jazz Festival.
It's been WAY too long. Awesome to have these guys back.
Join us for Dinners At Six before the show!
Thank you to our sponsors King Estate and The Eye Center for this performance.
