NO COVERCheckerboard Suede is a rock-infused blues trio founded by two NCCU Professors, Brett Chambers (Brett's OpenMic), and Dr. John Prince (singer/songwriter/guitarist/ producer) based in Durham.
Checkerboard Suede grew out of Brett's OpenMic when it was located at Papa Mojo's. Jick Winslow rounds out the band with his impeccable bass lines and harmony vocals. The trio plays a mix of original and classic blues/rock music, always with a surprise or two during their live shows. A full-length album, Funky Blues and Rock n' Roll, is in production.
NOTE: We do not take reservations. All seating is first come/first served. We recommend arriving 1 hour before showtime with your party to avoid a wait. Due to staffing issues waits and food times may be longer than usual. Thank you for your patience.
