About this Event
Our Breastfeeding Awareness 2 course is our intermediate course, designed for those with some existing breastfeeding knowledge, such as that gained on our Breastfeeding Awareness 1 course, or those further along in their own healthcare/midwifery studies. The course looks in detail at many aspects of infant feeding and the support families need to establish and sustain breastfeeding. While some breastfeeding awareness and knowledge will be an advantage, it’s not essential and you don’t need to have breastfed your own children to attend this course.
What you’ll learn about:
- The WHO Code and how it helps to protect breastfeeding.
- The UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.
- Positioning and attachment.
- Signs of effective breastfeeding.
- Common breastfeeding problems.
- What is typical during the early days of breastfeeding.
- Storage of breastmilk.
- Alternative ways to feed a baby breastmilk.
- Hand expression.
- Safer sleep and breastfeeding.
