Most of us won't get a mammogram until 40. Here's what to know now: Breast Cancer 101 with Susan G. Komen, plus drinks & light bites.
About this Event

Breast cancer isn't just a conversation for our moms and aunts anymore.

Rates are rising fastest among younger women, including women in their 20s and 30s. It's still uncommon at our age, but most of us won't be offered a routine mammogram until 40. That makes knowing your body and your risk more important than ever.

So we're bringing in the experts. Join Young Women's Alliance and Susan G. Komen, the world's leading breast cancer organization, for an evening of real answers, good company, and a whole lot of pink, right in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

WHAT YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH

✔ What breast cancer is and who it actually affects

✔ The risk factors worth knowing, including the ones nobody talks about

✔ What early detection looks like before you're old enough for a mammogram

✔ How to advocate for yourself (and the people you love) at the doctor's office

✔ Answers to the questions you've never quite asked out loud

FAQ

  • Is this event for me if I've never been to a YWA event? Absolutely. Most guests come to their first YWA Speaks event as a guest, and plenty leave as members.
  • Do I need to know anything about breast cancer before coming? Not a thing. This is a 101-level conversation designed for everyone, whether you're curious, worried, or supporting someone you love.
  • Will I have to share anything personal? Never. You're welcome to just listen. Q&A is optional, and you can ask questions as openly or as generally as you like.
  • Is this medical advice? This is a general education session, not a personal consultation. You'll leave knowing what questions to bring to your own doctor.
  • I'm a survivor or currently in treatment. Is this for me? Absolutely. You're welcome here, and we'd be honored to have you. Some topics may feel personal, so feel free to step out at any point, no explanation needed.
  • Can I come alone? Yes! Lots of guests come solo. The first 30 minutes are dedicated to networking, so you'll leave knowing people.
  • Is it okay to arrive late? Doors open at 6:30, and the talk begins at 7:10. If you're running behind, come anyway, but arrive by 7:10 to catch the full talk.
