Breaking up Thanksgiving is Chicago's traditional Contra Dance weekend.

WHEN: Monday, November 27-29, 2026
WHERE: Irish American Heritage Center - 4th FLOOR ballroom
4626 North Knox Avenue Chicago, IL 60630
Large Free Parking Lot and close to Montrose Blue Line
COST: $55 adults weekend, $40 seniors and students weekend
We now accept electronic payment.
Please bring a clean, dry, non-marking pair of shoes to change into for dancing so we keep the recently refinished wood floor nice.
Bring a water bottle.
No partner or Experience necessary - everyone is welcome
Family friendly, all ages and abilities are welcome.
Breaking up Thanksgiving is powered by volunteers.

We will offer registration online, by mail, and at the door.

Contra dancing/ Open Calling -- 7pm – 11:30pm
Musicians Jam -- 7pm- 11:30pm
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28-- Doors open at Noon
MAIN HALL
Various workshops -- 12:30pm – 5pm
Musicians Jam -- 12:30pm- 11:30pm
Dinner Break -- 5:15pm - 6:45pm
Must register for catered dinner option By Nov 20
Contra dancing -- 7pm –11:30pm
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29
Brunch and Waltzing -- 10am – Noon
