About this Event
This is registration for Part II.
In observance and celebration of Native American Heritage Month, we’d like to invite you to a special Breaking Bread series in partnership with The Indigenous Joy Project—an intertribal organization that centers learning, understanding and belonging through Joyful community activation.
We hope you’ll join us for thought provoking discussions, community connections and Indigenous cuisine. The Indigenous Joy Series is hosting 3 gatherings and at this time, Thursday, November 12th is full but you can register to be on the wait list here.
Tuesday, November 12; 10:45M-2PM* | First Americans Museum
Part One: The Old Ways & A Modern Landscape Dive into the storytelling of Turtle Island prior to Western contact and learn the ways of reciprocity, technology and knowledge keeping within Indigenous structures, ensuring joy and restorative justice in a modern world. Register to be on waitlist here.
*Note extended time.
Sunday, November 17; 1:45pm-5:00pm | We The People at The Bank
Part Two: Joy In Crisis Building on context given in Part One of this series, learn about present day crises—Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women/People/Relatives, boarding schools, broken treaties, continued attempts at erasure etc—and the urgent responsibility of cultural preservation and Indigenous joy within Indian Country. Required registration here.
Saturday, November 23; 1:45pm-5pm | Cole Community Center
Part Three: The Makers Among Us In this third and final installment, discover the joy cultivated by Indigenous artists, educators, healers and landkeepers. Complete your learning by confronting storied stereotypes and confirmation biases of Indigenous peoples. Reinform your knowledge with a clear understanding of Native communities, celebrating the many—non-monolithic—Indigenous presentations within culture. The Indigenous community is as alive, grounded, dynamic and joyful as the feast we will share. Required registration here.
