Breaking BREAD - An Inclusive Community Dinner

Meet other Families with a Recent Autism Diagnosis: DDBP, in partnership with varied and diverse local community organizations, is hosting an inclusive community dinner for families whose children have received a recent* (*on or after September 1st, 2024) diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Titled Breaking Barriers, Roadblocks, Exclusion, and Disparities (BREAD), the goal of this dinner is for families and DDBP providers to have an opportunity outside of the hospital/clinic setting to build community. Families can meet other families from their communities and discuss their healthcare experiences (including challenges) and their child’s diagnostic journey. We aim to identify areas of need, provide information about local resources, and plan for future events that will help build community among families of children recently diagnosed with autism. Having your voice at this dinner helps us understand how we can best support families and individuals receiving a new diagnosis of autism and ensures that we are providing culturally responsive care and meeting the unique needs and priorities of each individual and family we serve.

When: Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30pm EDT. Doors at 4:20pm

Childcare (ages 5-15) available (registration required). Registration is free but required.
