Breakfast – EU Space Act : the foreseen role of standardization

ILNAS is organizing on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a breakfast dedicated to the Luxembourg space ecosystem to understand the future role of standardization in the context of the framework of the proposal for a European regulation on the safety, resilience and sustainability of space activities in the Union ().

Published on June 25, 2025, the proposed European regulation on the security, resilience, and sustainability of space activities in the Union (also known as EU Space Act) aims to provide a regulatory framework for space activities carried out within European territory. It foresees the use of standardization as a tool enabling European stakeholders to comply with essential requirements related to satellite reflectivity and the integrity of space data.

In this context, the Luxembourg Standardization Body (ILNAS/OLN – Organisme Luxembourgeois de Normalisation) is organizing on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at its premises, a breakfast entitled “EU Space Act: the foreseen role of standardization”.

This event aims to provide an introduction to the EU Space Act through a general presentation by the Ministry of the Economy, and then, the European Space Agency (ESA) will present the ECSS standards system and its benefits for the EU space ecosystem. Its links with the European standardization bodies CEN and CENELEC will be given also.

Finally, ILNAS will share the key elements enabling national stakeholders to understand the role of standards in the context of this future legislation and to seize the opportunities offered by participation in standardization.

Additionally, the event will be an opportunity to present the new edition of the Sectorial Standards Analysis for Aerospace.
