Drawing from his second book, Michael guides us through China’s vibrant breakfast culture, where dawn brings sizzling griddles, steaming baskets, and generations-old recipes made fresh to order. From dan dan mian and jian bing to xiaolongbao and golden youtiao, discover dishes designed for speed, comfort, and pleasure. With stories, insights, and visuals via QR-linked recipes, this is a love letter to mornings, food, and shared tables.


About the Speaker:

Michael Zee is the creator of the viral Instagram account @symmetrybreakfast. Over the last ten years, he has nurtured over 600,000 followers and published cookbooks and travel guides that have become international bestsellers. His new book ZaoFan: Breakfast of China won the Fortnum & Mason Award for Best Cook Book in 2025.
