THAT'S RIGHT! Just 2 months after adding the Elective series, we're now adding our FOURTH regular class series at the Breakaway, and we've got a killer lineup of teachers and topics to kick it off!

**What is Advanced Topics?**
Time: 7:00 - 8:00pm
This series is meant for our most experienced students who are also looking to challenge themselves. Students who have danced for multiple years, have experience practicing outside of a class setting, might have experience competing or teaching, and are interested in a class honing in on specific skills and concepts rather than focusing on new moves. Teachers might introduce topics that they themselves are working on, and some topics may have extra requirements.
Advanced Topics series are slightly shortened and will not include the last Thursday of each month. e.g. In a 4 week month, Advanced Topics will only run on the first 3 weeks, and Int/Adv Practice Session will be on the last week.

**JUNE TOPIC with Kevin Weng and Calvin Lu**
(4 week series)
"Kevin and Calvin sat together and thought: “What’s the toughest turn we could teach in 4 weeks?” Not for the faint of heart, this little combo is challenging to do and very nuanced in the connection. Along the way to learning it, we’ll be workshopping different aspects of turns, like balance, connection, momentum, footwork, and posture, and connecting those back to some of the more difficult turns you already know.

**JULY TOPIC with Samantha Nguyen**
(3 week series)
*Extra Requirement: Although this class will only focus on following skills, students MUST be familiar with how to LEAD a swingout as well, so that you can help each other practice*
You know how to put basic swivels at the end of your swingouts, but how do you take those swivels to the next level? Go from viewing swivels as just a "part of a swingout" to the kind of swivels observers are mesmerized by, and learn all about polishing your swivels as well as making them uniquely yours! This class will ONLY focus on following skills.

**AUGUST TOPIC with Isaac Garfinkle & Max Ramirez**
(4 week series)
You’ve got moves, you’ve got style, but when Flying Home comes on? For some reason, it all falls apart. This class will tackle how to get comfortable getting on the floor for those sweet and hot tunes so you can keep your cool when it’s time to throw down.
We recommend students be comfortable swinging out at mid-range tempos (ex: Fats Waller’s “Yacht Club Swing,” Count Basie’s “Jive at Five”) for this class. We will be aiming for tempos between 190 bpm (ex: Lionel Hampton’s “Flying Home”) and 210 bpm (ex: Duke Ellington’s “Main Stem”).

**SEPTEMBER TOPIC with Sean Krazit**
(3 week series)
*Extra Requirement: Students should already be somewhat familiar with solo jazz dancing e.g. dancing to an entire song solo*
If you’ve ever felt like “I keep doing the same moves” in your solo dancing, this series is for you!
This class won’t teach you a bunch of new moves, but will instead break you out of your normal solo dancing habits by viewing the moves you already know in a new way!
From learning to improvise like a soloing musician, to exploring Laban Movement Analysis and more, you’ll shake up your solo dancing and leave with new tools for having fun improvising with your solo dancing.
