First Presbyterian & St. George's Episcopal invite you to this talk on the role of beauty in the work of health care with Dr. Brewer Eberly
About this Event

Rest, joy, and wonder need not be scarce in the practice of medicine as a Christian. What might the recognition of Christ in the breaking of bread mean for Christians in health care who are weary for nourishment and eager for connection and a sense of belonging? What role could beauty play in the work and lives of those who study and practice the art of healing?

Join us as we welcome physician, artist, and writer Brewer Eberly for a conversation about "Bread, Beauty, and Belonging" in the Christian life with health care workers in mind.

About Dr. Eberly

Brewer Eberly, MD, MACS is a third-generation family physician working at Fischer Clinic in Raleigh, NC. He is a McDonald Agape Fellow in the Theology, Medicine, and Culture (TMC) Initiative at Duke Divinity School, having completed the TMC Fellowship as a medical student and the Paul Ramsey Institute Fellowship while in residency. He has been published widely, with pieces in JAMA, The New Atlantis, and CHEST, as well as in theological spaces like Christianity Today, First Things, and Plough. While most of his time is spent caring for his patients, his research is rooted in the intersections of medicine, aesthetics, and Christian theology, with a particular eye toward medical trainee formation, the relationship between beauty and ethics, and the nourishment of weary clinicians.
