About this Event
Join us for a night of Brazilian music arranged for guitar and vibraphone, exploring genres such as samba, classical, bossa nova, and pagode. Experience the rich and diverse sounds of Brazil in an intimate setting, featuring works by composers like Tom Jobim, Villa-Lobos, and Yamandu Costa.
Eduardo Gutterres (guitar) from Brazil and Pedro Sequeira (vibraphone) from Portugal met in New York City, where they study at the Manhattan School of Music (Edu) and Juilliard School (Pedro). They share a love for Brazilian music and started this project to create unique arrangements for guitar and vibraphone.

Eduardo Gutterres, born in 1997, is a multi-awarded guitarist recognized as one of his generation's leading musicians in Brazil. Currently, he is a Doctoral of Musical Arts candidate at the Manhattan School of Music (New York), where he also teaches Chamber Music. Eduardo has won several prestigious awards, including the Prêmio Citi for young musicians, provided by CitiBank Brazil (2024) and the 1st prize at the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition (2022).
Originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil, Eduardo was selected as the Magda Tagliaferro Scholar in 2019, which allowed him to study with renowned artists such as Paulo Martelli and Fabio Zanon. He has performed globally, including at the United Nations Security Council and the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-United States' "Person of the Year" event.
Eduardo holds a Bachelor of Music with honors from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he received the Andrés Segovia/Rose Augustine Award and the Josephine Whitford Award. He is sponsored by Augustine Strings and serves as Guitar Faculty at the Bloomingdale School of Music.

Pedro Sequeira is a Portuguese vibraphonist currently pursuing his masters degree at The Juilliard School, in New York City. Before moving to the USA, Pedro finished his undergraduate studies at ESMAE, in Porto and in 2022 awarded the prize of “Best Musician” at the Festa do Jazz festival.
In his first year in New York City, Pedro has the collaborated with renowned musicians like Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Washington, Gerald Cannon, Marc Cary, and Donald Vega; and has performed in important venues like Dizzy’s, Lincoln Center and Casa da Música (Portugal). In 2024, Pedro toured Portugal playing some of his original tunes in important venues around the country.
