In celebration of Black History Month, join us as we kick off a monthly Brazilian film series. Carnaval and Mardi Gras may be over, but we can still keep the party going and celebrate with the documentary film Samba & Jazz. This feature film by Jefferson Mello draws a parallel between these two rhythms and cultures, in a versatile and unpretentious approach, looking for the synergy between the two cities in which they are most present: Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and New Orleans (United States).
The first fifteen people to arrive will be treated to New Orleans King Cake! Suggested donation of $5. Film has a run time of 1.5 hours, and will start around 6:45. Parking opens on Columbia Rd., NW at 6:30 pm. Made possible by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
