Festa invites the community to learn some Samba moves! Join in an interactive experience of Brazilian history and culture—shared by Brazilian-American artist and international entertainer Suzy McCalley who was born and raised in Brazil. Presented every Saturday from 4-6pm in September at four locations in Winston-Salem. All of the events and activities are free. Brazilian food and drink will be for sale from Greensboro-based Brazilian owned caterers The Brazzo Experience. And a free family trip will be given away at EVERY event by the Travel Twins.

Sept. 7: Authoring Action, 624 W. Sixth St. Hear a live Samba band “Suzy Mac” led by Suzy McCalley and DeCarlos Davis, and take a Samba dance class with Courtney Feliz. Artist Cheryl Lipstreau will do face-painting. Kids 6-12 can make their own percussive instruments with Davide Bianchi.
Sept. 14: Delta Arts Center, 2611 New Walkertown Road. Hear a live Samba band and take a Samba dance class. Leo Rucker will create art live, and you can make your own Carnival headdress.
Sept. 21: Winston-Salem Urban League, 201 W. Fifth St. Hear a live Samba band, and take a Samba dance class. Artist Cheryl Lipstreau will do face-painting.
Sept. 28: Hispanic League, 2895 Shorefair Drive. Hear a live Samba band and take a Samba dance class with Alegria Brasil. Artist Cheryl Lipstreau will do face-painting.
Authoring Action, Delta Fine Arts, Winston-Salem Urban League, and the Hispanic League are partnering with Artistic Director and Producer McCalley to re-create the joy and excitement of multicultural Brazil for the Winston-Salem community. The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is sponsoring the project, which is funded through ARPA support by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. Other community partners include The Breathing Room (yoga and wellness), Triad Cultural Arts, Happy Hill Neighborhood Association, and NC Brazilian Arts Project.
