About this Event
We hope you will join us for this special opportunity to get inside Brandy Agun's creative painting process. Watch as her painting comes to life and feel free to ask her questions along the way.
Here is a small blurb from her Artist statement for her upcoming show:
"The theme for my current group of paintings revolves around one’s home life, which takes in familiar streets and markets in addition to interior scenes. This is the familiar, everyday scene in which many of us spend most of our time. It’s the parking lot outside a favorite restaurant, the booths at a local farmers market, and the busy counter in a kitchen when family comes to visit. It’s the messy shop, the gardening chores, and a cluttered deck project. Painting these everyday activities allows me to reflect on my personal experiences and connect to others who share these spaces. It is our home life, routine, and chores that we have in common that may allow us to understand each other."
You are welcome to come anytime between 11am and 3pm and stay as long as you'd like. This is a free event, you don't need to bring tickets but RSVP'ing helps us prepare for the event. Please share with anyone who you think might be interested!

A Short Bio about Brandy:
Brandy Agun grew up in Portland, Oregon. Shortly after graduating college, she took her first formal drawing class at the adjunct school to the Portland Art Museum. From that moment forward, Brandy was constantly taking classes, transforming her visual understanding of the world around her. During this time, Brandy spent ten years at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, Washington. She also studied classical drawing and oil painting at the Georgetown Atelier as well as anatomy and écorché at the Seattle Sculpture Atelier. In 2013, Brandy began teaching traditional oil painting out of her studio. Her work has been exhibited around the Pacific Northwest and has earned her several awards. In 2014, Brandy moved her studio into her home where she lives with her husband along with their dog and bunny.
Inspired by Renaissance masters, Brandy initially focused on drawing the human figure rigorously and honing her skills as a figure painter. Over time, she has become fascinated with the spaces people occupy and the point at which representation and abstraction meet. By seeing objects as collections of abstract elements, Brandy is able to deconstruct her subjects into color, value, and flat shapes. Her objective is to create emotional paintings balancing content with design elements. In this way, Brandy seeks to emphasize a common humanity between herself and the viewer, treating painting as a conversation in which she can express herself visually.
