About this Event

Can you build a successful company and use that company to solve real-world problems?

At our August 11th Community Meetup, we’re excited to welcome Amielle Lake, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of CarboNet to share about entrepreneurship, impact, and what it really takes to build a business that does well and does good.

CarboNet is a Vancouver-based company bringing safer, more effective water treatment technology to market. Their work focuses on removing key contaminants from industrial wastewater so that water can be safely reused or disposed of, tackling one of the most important and complex environmental challenges facing industry today. Oh yeah... and Amielle and her cofounders also won the BC Business Entrepreneur of the Year in 2024.

Amielle’s journey spans entrepreneurship, cleantech, venture building, sales, marketing, investing, and community leadership. She previously founded Tagga, a customer data platform acquired by Campaign Monitor, served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at UBC, and co-founded Women’s Equity Lab, which helps women learn and participate in early-stage investing.

In this talk, Amielle will share lessons from her CarboNet journey, the opportunities, challenges, and decisions involved in building a company at the intersection of commercial success and environmental impact.

Whether you’re a founder, operator, investor, student, marketer, or someone curious about purpose-driven business, this evening will offer an honest look at what it means to build with both ambition and impact.

Why Attend

As the digital world grows noisier and we increasingly question what’s real, what’s human or AI, true or fabricated, what we’ll crave most are things that are tangible and trustworthy. That’s why in-person communities are becoming more vital than ever: spaces where real people gather, connect, and act together.
