On his second return to Columbus, trumpeter Brandon Woody brings Upendo home. Baltimore raised him. The New York Times and Los Angeles Times have called him one of the sharpest voices in contemporary jazz right now. Blue Note Records signed him, and in May 2025 he released his debut, For The Love Of It All — a record that sounds like it was written for rooms exactly like this one.
Woody doesn’t perform from a distance. He plays like Baltimore is standing next to him, and Upendo plays like they’ve known each other their whole lives. This is a band that turns any Thursday into an event.

And the night doesn’t end when the set does. Head to BAM Thursdays and keep it going in the Sculpture Garden — live music, local art, good food, and fresh libations, with a local artist and DJs spinning. Galleries are free and open until 10:00 PM.
