To my friends in the UK and EU.
I need to let you know that due to personal circumstances, I have no choice but to reschedule my UK and European tour from this fall to the spring.
I have been so profoundly anxious about this decision and I’m aware that this change may be disappointing and inconvenient for many of you, especially those of you who were planning on traveling internationally, but I am hoping this gives you all enough time to adjust any plans.
My team have been working really hard behind the scenes to reschedule the tour with as little disruption as possible. However, due to availability, a few of the venues have changed, but we thought it was more important to get back over there and play these shows as soon as we possibly could. The good news is, this has also enabled us to add more shows which I couldn’t be more excited to play!
For those of you who have tickets where the venue is staying the same, no action is needed on your part and your tickets will automatically be valid for the new rescheduled dates. Tickets for the original Dusseldorf show will also be valid for the rescheduled show in Cologne.
And for anyone who can’t make the new rescheduled dates, please contact your ticket provider for a refund.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I want nothing more than to have a relationship with my friends across the pond and I have done everything in my power to avoid rescheduling this tour.
I sincerely hope you’ll all come back and see me in the spring. I promise I will make it up to you and that it will be worth the wait!

Die amerikanische Sängerin, Produzentin und Songwriterin Brandi Carlile stilistisch in eine Genre-Schublade zu zwängen, ist ein verzweifeltes Unterfangen. Seit ihrem selbst betitelten Debütalbum aus dem Jahr 2005 changiert sie zwischen Folk, Americana, Rock, Artpop und sogar Classic Rock. Während ihr vielleicht bekanntester Song „The Story“ stimmgewaltig von Country-Folk in einen Grunge-Chorus kippt, zeigte sie sich mit den Jahren immer vielseitiger, probierte diverse Stile aus und sang Duette mit Acts wie Noah Kahan, Miley Cyrus, Lucius oder Dolly Parton. Mit Elton John nahm sie gar ein ganzes Duett-Album auf.
Mit diesem Wissen kann man es also als Statement lesen, wenn Brandi Carlile ihr erstes Soloalbum seit vier Jahren „Returning To Myself“ nennt. Veröffentlicht wird es bereits am 24. Oktober – und schon der gleichnamige Titelsong, eine Gitarrenballade, klingt nach Rückbesinnung, Einkehr und Selbstfindung. Die zweite Vorabsingle „A War With Time“ ist ebenfalls eine melancholische Angelegenheit, die dank der ausgefeilten Produktion und dem ungewöhnlichen Drum-Rhythmus trotzdem einen sehr intensiven Drive hat.
Carlile hat auch diesmal wieder mitproduziert, holte sich aber ein paar sehr geschätzte und etablierte Namen an Bord: Andrew Watt (der mit den Rolling Stones an deren Comeback-Album „Hackney Diamonds“ arbeitete), Aaron Dessner (Mitglied von The National) sowie Justin Vernon, den wohl die meisten als Bon Iver kennen und schätzen.
